Purrrrr-fect family panto rounds off 60 years of Queen’s magic!
It’s panto time at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch – oh yes it is! The Queen’s is excited to present the action-packed Christmas pantomime Dick Whittington running until 11 January 2014.
This magical, musical adventure is the perfect finale to the Queen’s Diamond Anniversary year celebrations and stars cut to the chase…, the Theatre’s professional company of actor-musicians. Dick Whittington gets the festive season under way with plenty of glitter and magic, song and dance, fun and laughter, stunning sets, colourful costumes and audience participation. Audiences can also look forward to a fantastic 3-D scene!
Boys and girls of all ages can join their favourite hero Dick and his loyal cat Tommy for a rags-to-riches mew-sical extravaganza! The streets of London are paved with gold and Dick wants a piece of the action. He’s off to the city with his loveable puss but has he got what it takes to find fame, fortune and win the girl of his dreams?
The whole family will cheer on brave Dick as he ventures across exotic kingdoms, laugh along with hilarious dame Sarah the Cook, fall in love with beautiful Alice, boo the evil King Rat and get swept away by Fairy Bow Bell’s magical fairy dust!
Adding to the fun and supporting the cut to the chase… cast is a Young Company of 24 super-talented local schoolchildren, who’ll be singing, dancing and playing various colourful roles.
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without a trip to the Queen’s most magical show of the year. As one of the UK’s leading professional theatres, the Queen’s has been producing the best in traditional family pantomime for 60 glorious years. Dick Whittington is from the same team behind recent panto smash-hits such as Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella – it is directed by Bob Carlton, written by Nicholas Pegg, designed by Mark Walters with music and lyrics by Carol Sloman.

This production stars cut to the chase… members Lauren Brown, Elliot Harper, Simon Jessop, Sam Kordbacheh, Sam Pay, Sarah Scowen, Alison Thea-Skot and Samuel Ward-Smith, with musicians Greg Last, Chris Reid and Nick Sayce. Musical direction is by Greg Last, lighting design by Peter Higton, sound design by Andy Smart and choreography by Donna Berlin.
