Now it looks like the warmer weather is with us it would be nice to be able to do some outside activities, especially with the summer holidays approaching.
“If you and your family are out visiting parks, fields or other natural spaces during half-term and the holidays, you could be part of a fun wildflower survey. Plantlife’s Bee Scene survey is free and is an easy way for children to learn about wildflowers in their local area and whether that area is good for bees. By ‘planting’ the findings on the Wild About Plants website, they will help create a virtual meadow of good wildflower sites across the country. A series of free guides and resources are downloadable free from: http://www.wildaboutplants.org.uk/beescene ”
“The Wild About Plants team are asking people to take part in their own Plant Championship Games by voting for their favourite athletic plant and finding out more about each of the nominated species in the accompanying resources. A free downloadable guide to creating your own plant championship games is available to inspire and entertain this summer with ideas for making flags and garlands for the opening ceremony, suggested games to play and ways to reward the participants after the games are over!” http://www.wildaboutplants.org.uk/championships
Wild About Plants is a national project, led by Plantlife and funded by Natural England through Access to Nature as part of the Big Lottery’s Changing Spaces programme.
